After moving to University Place, WA in 2019, Julian and Maria Herrera, along with their adult children Jules, AJ, and Madelynn became part of the Newhope Church family in 2020. Since then, they’ve been faithfully saying “yes” to Jesus and serving the mission of Newhope to Present Hope and Develop People at the South Hill (Puyallup) campus.

Julian has led Newhope’s Man Up men’s ministry for the past three years and, together with Maria, has served on the church Elder Board. Their passion for ministry and heart for people have shaped them into trusted leaders within the church community.
Now joined by their daughters-in-love, Ceci (married to Jules) and Beth (married to AJ), the Herreras have sensed a clear call from the Lord to plant a campus in their own neighborhood of University Place.

With over 25 years of experience in the marketplace as a sales and business leader, Julian is stepping into a new season as the Campus Pastor of Newhope University Place. The team’s vision is to help their community KNOW JESUS and to build and equip disciples who will MAKE HIM KNOWN, both across the street and around the world.

Newhope U.P. has a strong heart for missions and is committed to being both a sending and receiving church for missionaries. AJ, Beth, and Madelynn are all active missionaries who carry a deep passion for living missionally and igniting the next generation with the fire of the Gospel.
